WABAG MP Dr Lino Tom wants the King James Version (KJV) Holy Bible removed from Parliament and placed in the chapel.
He expressed his concern about the behaviour of MPs as Parliament celebrated its 41st anniversary today.
“We should remove the Bible and put it in a chapel because let’s be honest with ourselves. We come here and lie a lot,” Dr Tom told Parliament this morning.
“Maybe we should start to separate government from church. We should allow the Bible to be in the church for pastors to interpret. If we are to keep this Bible in Parliament, we must not come here and lie. Most of us here, we do a lot of bad things on our electorates.”
Dr Tom suggested that instead of MPs praying to start the Parliament session, the chaplain should be invited to lead the session in prayer.
He added that Parliament was like a traditional “hausman” where issues were discussed with honesty and integrity for the people’s benefit.
