Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Job Pomat, announced this afternoon that the notice of Vote of No Confidence (VoNC) has been fully reviewed by the Private Business Committee (PBC) and confirmed to meet all technical requirements.
The VoNC notice, filed by Opposition Leader Hon. Douglas Tomuriesa against Prime Minister and Member for Tari, Hon. James Marape, will be presented on the floor of Parliament during tomorrow’s sitting.
Speaker Pomat also reminded Members of Parliament to adhere to parliamentary regulations by refraining from posting confidential information on social media.
He said that official announcements should be made through the Parliament and the Speaker.
“Today, much of the confidential information has been disclosed and discussed on social media; even Cabinet matters are prematurely shared online,” Pomat said.
“Until it is officially announced by the House, public access should not be assumed.”
He further warned that members involved in such activities could be referred to the Privileges Committee for disciplinary action.
