Prime Minister Marape emphasised the deep and enduring ties between Papua New Guinea and the United States, built on mutual respect, shared values, and a commitment to advancing peace, security, and development in the Pacific region.

“The United States has been a steadfast partner in Papua New Guinea’s development
journey,” Prime Minister Marape said.

“Our partnership has brought about tangible benefits, including through initiatives under
the Defense Cooperation Agreement (DCA), which strengthens our collaboration in regional security and defense.”

The DCA, signed to bolster cooperation between the United States and Papua New Guinea, underscores the strategic importance of the Pacific region and the shared commitment to promoting stability, security, and sovereignty.

“The Defense Cooperation Agreement is a vital pillar of our bilateral relationship, reflecting the mutual trust and shared vision between our two nations,” the Prime Minister added.

“We look forward to building on this foundation, ensuring the security of our region while
fostering development and prosperity for our people.”

Prime Minister Marape also commended the United States’ continued engagement in critical
areas such as education, health, and climate resilience, which are integral to Papua New Guinea’s development priorities.

“As a Pacific nation, we value the United States’ leadership in addressing regional challenges and its commitment to the prosperity of the Pacific,” he said.

“Together, we can continue to work towards a more sustainable, secure, and thriving future for our peoples.”

Concluding his message, Prime Minister Marape extended his best wishes to President Trump, expressing optimism about further strengthening the bilateral relationship between Papua New Guinea and the United States under his leadership.
