PRIME Minister Hon. James Marape continues to demonstrate Papua New Guinea’s commitment in bilateral relations with other countries focusing on economic cooperation, trade and Investment, educations and other areas of interest aimed to bring development.
In his recent visit to the government of Indonesia, Prime Minister Marape said, President of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto made known of their consent to work in collaboration with Papua New Guinea in addressing several underlying issues of the need for food and Energy Security in uplifting all citizens out of poverty.
Marape highlighted some of the key areas of focus through the different corporations of economic corporations and trade and investment, specifically looking at the oil palm and electricity generation and its supply back and forth as well as security corporations.
“So President affirmed that the work that we have started in the last three years would not be removed, but affirmed and elevated for us to keep on working as two nations who are linked by land,” Prime Minister stated during his arrival from Indonesia at the APEC VIP terminal.
“We are not the only country that shares a land border with Indonesia, they have a land border with East Timor, Brunei and practically they experience dealing with nations.”
The Prime Minister added that the PNG Chamber of commerce will work in partnership with the partners in Indonesia to allow for more business exchange to take place between the Western neighbours.
Besides Prime Minister Marape’s visit to Indonesia, he made an official invitation to President Subianto to attend the country’s 50th anniversary as part of the close partnership of working alongside through bilateral relations.
