Prime Minister Marape Pays Tribute to Trevan Clough OL MBE RNO Oly

PRIME Minister Hon. James Marape has expressed his deepest condolences to the family of the late Trevan Clough OL MBE RNO Oly and the entire Brian Bell Group following his passing.

“On behalf of the Government and the people of Papua New Guinea, I extend our heartfelt
sympathies to the Clough family and the Brian Bell Group during this difficult time,” Prime Minister Marape said.

“For more than 57 years, Trevan Clough dedicated his life to the growth and success of the Brian Bell Group, contributing immensely to the business sector in Papua New Guinea. From his early days working alongside Sir Brian Bell to leading the company’s expansion across the country, Trevan Clough played a pivotal role in shaping one of PNG’s most respected and enduring businesses.”

Mr. Clough was instrumental in developing key business divisions, including technical services, agriculture, and major projects, reinforcing the company’s commitment to providing high-quality services to Papua New Guineans.

“His leadership, vision, and deep commitment to PNG helped strengthen local enterprise,
providing employment and essential services to our people. As we celebrate 50 years of
independence, we also acknowledge the contributions of individuals like Trevan Clough, who invested their time and expertise in building this nation’s business landscape,” Prime Minister Marape added.

“Trevan Clough was more than a corporate leader—he was a man who believed in the potential of Papua New Guinea and its people. His legacy will continue to inspire future generations of business leaders and entrepreneurs in our country.”

Prime Minister Marape reaffirmed his government’s commitment to supporting businesses that share in the vision of a stronger, self-reliant Papua New Guinea.
