Mineral Resources Development Company (MRDC) Managing Director Augustine Mano says Petroleum Resources Kutubu (PRK) has consistently and fully met its tax obligations to the Internal Revenue Commission (IRC) over many years.

Mr Mano made the statement at Pimaga Government Station last Wednesday, 07 January 2026, during the launch of the Parita Moro road upgrade and sealing project.

He said PRK remains compliant with all statutory tax requirements and continues to make significant contributions to State revenue.

“PRK has maintained full compliance with its tax obligations to the IRC over the years. These contributions form an important part of government revenue,” Mr Mano said.

Mr Mano said PRK’s tax compliance reflects sound corporate governance and prudent financial management under MRDC’s oversight.

He added that while PRK continues to meet its statutory obligations, it has also supported approved infrastructure and community projects in resource hosting areas through established frameworks.

Mr Mano said tax payments made by resource companies play a critical role in funding government services nationwide and should be clearly distinguished from development responsibilities of provincial and district administrations.

The Parita Moro road project is expected to improve access and connectivity for communities in Kutubu, Bosavi and Poroma and support economic activity in the region.
