The Department of Finance has confirmed that the pay date for Pay 19 of 2025 will be brought forward to Friday, 12th September 2025, to coincide with the commencement of Papua New Guinea’s 50th Independence Anniversary celebrations.
Finance Secretary Samuel Penias announced the change in a circular issued to all government departments, provincial administrations, statutory bodies, and public servants this week.
He explained that the adjustment was necessary because the original pay date, Wednesday, 17th September, falls on one of the declared public holidays.
“All staff are requested to take note of these changes and make the necessary personal and administrative arrangements,” Mr Penias said.
In accordance with National Gazette No. G827, September 15th, 16th, and 17th have been declared public holidays to allow Papua New Guineans to fully participate in the Golden Jubilee events. Banks and financial institutions have also indicated they will observe the three-day holiday.
The early pay announcement is expected to ease travel and spending arrangements for public servants and their families as the nation looks forward to cultural festivities, community events, and official ceremonies commemorating 50 years of independence.

Thank you but after I dependence, we will wait for Three more weeks for next pay. Do we have any additional amounts to say thank you to public servants who are the machinery of development drives. Over the the Secretary and Government.
Any input from the government for the public servants to celebrate that big event.
Is this week is still a loss week or fornight week?
Thanks
