THE Reset Delivery Unit (RDU), under the Department of Prime Minister and National Executive Council, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Certified Practising Accountants Papua New Guinea (CPA PNG) to support the implementation of the national RESET@50 reform agenda.

RESET@50 is a long-term national reform roadmap aimed at strengthening governance, improving accountability, and driving sustainable economic development in Papua New Guinea. The Reset Delivery Unit is tasked with coordinating the agenda through four key focus areas: development of policy documentation, advancement of priority legislation, delivery of national public awareness campaigns, and implementation of practical “Quick Wins” across government.

The Delivery Unit is expected to transition fully into the Department of Prime Minister and National Executive Council ahead of the next General Election.
To support effective delivery of RESET@50, the Reset Delivery Unit has engaged several technical and development partners to provide specialist expertise and advisory support. These include the National Research Institute, Australian National University in partnership with the University of Papua New Guinea, the United Nations Development Programme, and the World Bank.

The partnership with CPA PNG will contribute technical expertise in public financial management, professional accounting standards, and the strengthening of transparency and accountability across government institutions.

As part of the collaboration, CPA PNG will host the PNG RESET@50 Conference on 14 May 2026. The conference will bring together leaders from government, the accounting profession, academia, and development partners to provide a national platform for dialogue on governance reforms, financial accountability, and the role of professional institutions in supporting the RESET@50 agenda.

The MoU was signed on 4 March 2026 by Charles Abel, Director of the Reset Delivery Unit, and James P. Gore, President of CPA PNG, marking the beginning of a collaborative partnership to support the effective delivery of Papua New Guinea’s RESET@50 reform program.
