Rubiang resumes duty as PPC for Simbu

SUPERINTENDENT Mazuc Rubiang (pictured) has officially resumed duties as the new Provincial Police Commander (PPC) for Simbu Province, as of today, Wednesday, January 8, 2025.

A welcome parade was held in Kundiawa town, where Supt. Rubiang addressed police officers and the public, outlining his priorities as the new police boss.

Supt. Rubiang, a familiar figure in Simbu, has spent 30 years serving in the province before being transferred to other locations.

Residents from all districts across Simbu gathered in Kundiawa to witness the ceremony and welcome one of their own sons back into a leadership role.

Ward 4 Councilor of Dukane LLG in Kerowagi District spoke on behalf of the people, expressing confidence in Supt. Rubiang’s ability to address the province’s pressing law and order challenges.

“This is timely, especially when the province is facing serious law and order issues,” the councilor said.

Supt. Rubiang thanked Police Commissioner David Manning, his three deputies, and the Assistant Commissioner of Police for the Eastern End for entrusting him with the role.

He acknowledged the need to address internal issues within the police force, noting discipline problems as a major contributor to the province’s law and order challenges.

“Before I can fight the law-and-order situation in the province, I will be getting my house in order,” Supt. Rubiang said.

“Some of you commanders are still here, and I know your strengths and weaknesses. You either perform or chip out,” he warned.

The new PPC also mentioned the importance of collaboration with the Simbu Provincial Government, the six District Members of Parliament, the business community, and the general public to effectively combat crime.

“My operation will commence this Friday, and I will support the Simbu Provincial Government’s liquor ban in the province, which I have reviewed,” he said.

Supt. Rubiang recently earned his promotion to Superintendent and was previously stationed in the National Capital District as the Superintendent of the Criminal Investigation Division.

During a brief stint as Acting NCD Metropolitan Superintendent, he implemented measures such as increasing bail amounts for certain offenses, which reportedly improved public behavior in the city.

He pledged to take a similar approach in Simbu, ensuring residents experience the full effect of the law.

“I will make sure people must feel and taste the laws in place,” he said.
