THE newly refurbished boardroom at the PNG Forest Authority (PNGFA) has been named after the Minister for Forestry, Hon. Salio Waipo, in recognition of his leadership.
The Managing Director of PNGFA officially announced the naming, highlighting it as a tribute to Minister Waipo’s admirable leadership. He noted that this boardroom will serve as a lasting legacy of the Minister’s contributions.
The PNGFA is committed to delivering on its responsibilities with excellence and reaching new heights. The establishment of this office space is seen as a step toward achieving its goals and aspirations.
Minister Waipo expressed that the boardroom represents a new era in how work is conducted at the PNGFA, aligning with the reforms outlined in the Government’s Medium-Term Development Plan (MTDP) IV 2023-2027.
“The board is going paperless,” Minister Waipo said, “hence for the first time, laptops have been set up in the boardroom for use during board sessions.”
“This is in line with Strategic Priority Area (SPA) 8, which focuses on digital government, national statistics, and public service governance.
“This is also in line with Prime Minister James Marape’s foreword in the MTDP, which emphasizes the need to transform our economy to remain globally competitive amid modern geopolitical dynamics.”
Minister Waipo, along with the board, is determined to contribute to the government’s ambitious goal of enhancing the economy to K200 billion by 2023.
He stated that they aim to double both internal and external revenue streams, create an additional one million jobs, and achieve the nation’s vision of becoming the richest black nation and an upper-income country by 2030.
Under the leadership of Managing Director John Mosoro, the PNGFA has made significant strides in improving its operations. Mosoro thanked Minister Waipo for securing the funding that allowed them to complete this important project.
