THE Papua New Guinea Sustainable Development Program (PNGSDP) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the North-Fly District Development Authority (NFDDA) to open up its office in Kiunga, Western Province.

The MoU was signed last Friday as part of SDP’s commitment to work with the communities in North-Fly district.

SDP Chief Executive Officer, Mrs. Lesieli Taviri said the opening of the office in Kiunga signified SDP’s desires and genuine intentions to work with the North-Fly administration and its key stakeholders such as the OK-Tedi Development Foundation.

“To us, this is more than just an office; it’s a commitment to working with the communities to bring about meaningful development to the people of North-Fly,” said Mrs Taviri.

Western Provincial Member, Hon. Taboi Awi Yoto was on the ground to officially open the SDP Kiunga office with the SDP Staff.

Member for North-Fly, Hon. James Donald, who was also present at the event called for everyone to support SDP’s efforts within the district.

The SDP headquarters will be based in Daru with its new office building set to commence construction in January of 2026.

This new office construction will be in line with SDP’s Gutpela Community Strategy 2025-2030 to anchor its activities and priorities in Western.

SDP’s strategy is to complement the efforts of the local government and other key stakeholders to improve capacity and deliver benefits to the people of Western through Education, livelihoods and health so benefits can be enjoyed by both current and future generations.
