The Southern Highlands Province (SHP) is preparing to go to the polls for the much-anticipated Local Level Government (LLG) elections, with polling officially set for Monday, 29 September 2025.

Acting Election Manager for SHP, Grace Wong, confirmed that the province is ready to deliver the elections, though polling will be conducted on a single day across all districts and wards.

“SHP and the country are ready to deliver this long-awaited LLG election on the 27th September, however, our polling for SHP is scheduled to begin on the 29th, which is on

Monday. We will only have one-day polling across the province,” Wong explained.

She further clarified that polling nationwide will commence on 27th September, but because the date falls on a weekend, SHP’s polling has been scheduled for the following Monday. “We will do one-day polling but it is still within the 14-day polling period,” she added.

Ms Wong also outlined the post-polling process, saying counting will be conducted immediately after polling is completed. “Counting will be done within five days right after polling. We will do centralized counting, meaning we will count at the district office or LLG office,” she said.

She urged all eligible voters, candidates, and community leaders to take ownership of the process and ensure a smooth and peaceful election.

“My message to everyone is to take ownership and let’s conduct a peaceful

election in our wards,” Ms Wong said. “All the new wards and LLGs will now go for polling. We have only one week to prepare, so let’s all work together and deliver a free, fair, and safe election.”

The one-day polling schedule is expected to cover both the existing and newly created wards across SHP, making this election significant in terms of realigning local representation.

With just days to go, preparations are underway at the provincial and district levels to ensure ballot papers, polling officials, and security personnel are in place to manage the process.

  1. Thankyou so much .
As a candidate ,i strongly say no to conduct counting at LLG office or District office.
This will cause more serious issues.

  2. Agree with date and every information provided, but only one i am disagree is counting vanue should be conducted at the individual LLG wards.
Because contesting President will take advantage on forcefully hijacking LLG wards winners to become President without Democratically exercising.

  3. Very good, all intending candidates waisted recourses and awaited for so long ,please no more defferal, must commence on 29 September 2025
