METROPOLITAN Superintendent Silva Sika has reminded the 29 members of the National Capital District (NCD) Metropolitan Command of their critical role in maintaining law and order.
He made this known during a small yet significant ceremony on Monday, where the officers were promoted.
Sika specifically highlighted areas that require a strong police presence, particularly in central locations such as Boroko and 4-Mile, which remain the heart of Port Moresby.
“The city’s image is closely tied to how we manage Boroko. It’s a hub that must remain clean and trouble-free,” Sika said.
He acknowledged the dedication, loyalty, and hard work the officers have demonstrated over the years, upholding that they deserve full credit for their promotions.
“Your dedication and loyalty to your duties over the past years have earned you this recognition,” he stated.
He added that these values are essential for maintaining public trust in law enforcement.
Sika also noted the importance of integrity and pride in their work, stating that police officers are bound by their oath to perform their duties without fear or favor.
He urged the newly promoted officers to uphold this oath as they transition into their new roles, with a focus on maintaining public safety and order in the nation’s capital.
Among the newly elevated officers was Boroko Police Station Commander Henry Map, who was promoted to the rank of Inspector. This move aims to enhance law enforcement efforts within the capital city.
These promotions are part of ongoing efforts by the NCD Metro Command to strengthen its leadership and operational effectiveness, with particular emphasis on Boroko due to its centrality and significance.
