Solen Loifa urges wise use of public resources

Menyamya MP Hon. Solen Loifa has called on the people of Menyamya, local public servants, and district officials to use public resources judiciously and for their intended purposes in service delivery for the district.

Loifa made this appeal during a ceremony where sector vehicles funded by the Menyamya District Development Authority (DDA) were presented at Menyamya Station last week.

The vehicles, which will support sectors including law and justice, education, infrastructure, and district administration, as well as the TVET school, are intended to enhance service delivery across the district.

“I urge all custodians of these vehicles to respect and maintain these assets to the highest standard and ensure they serve their intended purpose for many years to come,” Loifa said.

“Previously, time and resources were wasted on district planning and services due to negligence and mismanagement. By using these vehicles wisely and as intended, we can save costs and allocate funds to other critical areas. It’s essential that these vehicles last long-term and are not replaced annually due to misuse.”

Loifa was joined by fellow Opposition members Hon. Aimos Akem, MP for Lagaip, and Hon. Maso Hewabi, MP for Middle Fly, to officiate the event.

He emphasized the importance of district assets, particularly in a remote area like Menyamya.

“While vehicles may be commonplace in other districts, for us, these assets are crucial to service delivery in our remote location. I’m pleased that we can support vital sectors in our district and hope this eases the challenges faced in their daily operations. Our DDA remains committed to supporting essential services and upholding accountable and responsible public service,” he said.

“Let us set a standard of using our resources wisely and responsibly.”
