TAMBUL Nebilyer District Development Authority (DDA) has presented its 2023 to 2024 acquittals to the Department of Implementation and Rural Development (DIRD).

Member for Tambul Nebilyer and Minister for Commerce and Industry, Hon. Win Bakri Daki presented the acquittals last week Friday.

Minister Daki, who is also the Chairman of the Tambul Nebilyer DDA, highlighted that the acquittals are not just mere words but the works he has done for his district.

“I did a lot of work; these acquittals are not just words but are works that I have done for my district,” said Daki.

“These are real work I have done; I have put the people’s money to where it should go.

“People must be provided with the basic services that they need for survival,” he said.

Minister Daki apologized for bringing in the 2023 acquittals late and pointed out the reasons.

He said the first reason was due to court battles that he has been fighting through following his election victory in 2022.

“After my 2022 National General Election victory, I’ve been going through court battles and won the last court case in 2024.

“The other reason is, about 24 people died after the 2022 election so I had to make compensations as it’s my customary obligation to ensure peace and harmony prevails in the community. So, there was delay in finalizing 2023 acquittals and I apologize for that,” Minister Daki explained.

He also urged other members of parliament to acquit their public funds.

“I am appealing to the leaders not to talk a lot in social media but must do your jobs.

“Monies allocated to provide services for the people must be done transparently and services must be delivered to our people,” said Daki.

Present to receive the acquittals were Minister for DIRD Joseph Lelang, Acting Secretary for DIRD Aiti Vaki and other senior members of the department.

Minister Lelang congratulated Minister Daki and his DDA for putting together the acquittals for 2023 and 2024 respectively.

Lelang emphasized on the importance of accountability and transparency on the District Services Improvement Programme (DSIP) and Provincial Services Improvement Programme (PSIP) fundings.

“It all boils down to accountability, there are few people who are critical about the importance of accountability – being accountable for public monies. This is an example of the funds that we have allocated to the people of Tambul Nebilyer,” Lelang said.

“Acquittal is important because it will tell us exactly how the money has been used and that is important.

“This is where we make sure that people’s money is released and what triggers it is the reports that are coming,” he added.

Meanwhile, Minister Lelang reassured the public that the DIRD is working very closely with all the provinces and districts to make sure the requirements under the Public Services Management Act of accountability of public monies is upheld all the time.
