SECRETARY for the Department of Education Dr. Uke Kombra urged teachers throughout the country to commit their time and focus on delivering quality education.
He made this call during the launching of the 2025 Academic Year.
The theme for the Education Department for the year 2025 is “Accessible quality education pathways for all”.
Dr. Kombra highlighted the importance of the 2025 academic theme and the education theme.
He said that the education theme for 2025 signifies teachers’ commitment to creating inclusive, equitable, and high-quality education opportunities for every Papua New Guinean child.
The Secretary added that they will be advocating the theme in both policy and practice throughout 2025.
“This week, over 70, 000 teachers have started their duties for the 2025 academic year.
“We are expecting enrollment of 2.4 to 2.5 million children in our school system.
“So, it is a time to reflect on our mission and renew our commitment to remain focused to deliver quality education to everyone,” said Dr. Kombra.
The Ministry of Education launched the 2025 Academic Year under the theme “Restoration of wholeness through jubilee with God.”
Dr. Kombra said that the theme is a meaningful one that requires teachers and staff to reflect, evaluate themselves, and take appropriate actions and decisions so that together they can make a difference in the education of the country’s future.
He urged the teachers to work together with the Minister for Education, the Secretary, and the TSC chairman with determination and faith to reach the golden jubilee and also to contribute towards a brighter future for the children.
The dedication service was started in 2017, making this year the 9th dedication service.
