THE TotalEnergies is now venturing into creating bright opportunities by providing education framework for young girls from Gulf province through the Papua LNG’s TVET scholarship program.
To kickstart the program, TotalEnergies, the operator of the Papua LNG Project, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoA) with the Caritas Technical Secondary School in Port Moresby yesterday.

The MoA allows for ten young women from the Caritas Technical Secondary School to enrol in National Certificate (NC) courses 1 and 2 in the stream of Hospitality, through the Papua LNG’s TVET scholarship program.
“It is our duty to have positive impact on the communities that are welcoming us with our job operation,” said TotalEnergies Managing Director, Arnaud Berthet.
Through the scholarship, five students will enrol in National Certificate (NC) courses 1, in commercial cookery whilst the other five enrol in National Certificate (NC) 2.

These students will have access to tuition fees as well as uniforms provided for them under the signed MoU.
Mr. Berthet said education support is an important space to contribute back to the people of Gulf Province.
In development perspective, he said education is key figure to seeing progress of those developments in not only Gulf but also the entire country.
Mr. Berthet said this year is the first of its kind for TotalEnergies to roll out the program specifically for young women, which they believed women play integral part of the country’s future and their ability can be maximise to contribute to the society and the developments.
“We are empowering these women today so in the future, they can take control of businesses and the lives,” he said.
He also acknowledged the service of Caritas in providing best and quality training and knowledge for young women.
Mr. Berthet said such religious owned education has the ability to elevate students and provide sustainable education framework for women to lead the country in the future.
