119 Students from Mul Baiyer Lumusa District in Western Highlands Province attending University of Papua New Guinea were able to receive a total of K119 000 School Fee subsidy from the Mul Baiyer District Development Authority under the leadership of Hon. Jackob Maki, to assist with their Tuition Fees.
The school Fee subsides aims at easing the financial burdens for parents and sponsors of students attending to tertiary institutions while promoting the human resource in the district, province and the country as a whole.
The Mul Baiyer District Development Authority has been consecutively supportive in the past three years in assisting tertiary students from the Mul Baiyer Lumusa District to pay for their tuition fees attending to Tertiary institution in the country.
The representative from the Office of the MP Hon. Jackob Maki, Mr. Joshua Rumints said that “Our local MP. Hon. Jackob Maki, is willing to support human resource in the district, the province and the Country as whole and subsidizing students with tuition fee subsidies is part of it,”
He added, “The DDA is aware of UPNG not accepting institutionalized cheques and so the cheque will be deposited into the Mul Baiyer Lumusa Student Association account,”
Mr. Rumints also made it clear that every student from Mul Baiyer Lumusa must benefit from this school fee subsidy.
Rumints said, “Mr. Jackob Maki has endorsed the cheque, however, due to the economic crisis in the country very student we have cut down the budget for every student to receive K1000 each unlike the previous years where students were able to get K2000 each,”
Student representatives, appreciated the Mul Baiyer District Development Authority for making their time available to present the cheque regardless of the student ending the semester.
The president of the UPNG Mul Baiyer Lumusa Association, Mr. Jansan Andakis warmly welcomed and appreciated the representatives from the MBL DDA for making their time available regardless of their busy schedule to attend to the event.
“Thank you to the MP of Mul Baiyer Lumusa for cooperating with Governor for Western Highlands province, Hon. Wai Rapa to support tertiary students with Tuition Fee subsidies as we have also benefited from the provincial School fee subsidies as well “
Mr. Andakis Said, “ On the same note, I also thank the MBL DDA for your continues support in towards the MUL Baiyer Lumusa tertiary students not only in UPNG but also students from other institutions as well and for believing in human resource and consecutively supporting the students in the past three years,”
The president of UPNG MBLSA concluded and said that “To the students, I am assuring you all that, this cheque of K119000 will benefit the genuine students of MBLSA in this intuition both external and internal student studying in UPNG,”
