WAPENAMANDA DISTRICT HOSPITAL

Wapenamanda Open MP Hon.Miki Kaeok (pictured)announced that the Wapenamanda District Hospital will receive well over K2 million to upgrade its existing facilities and at the same time install new facilities required by a district hospital.

The local MP, who is also the Vice Minister for Works and Highways, mentioned in his first meeting with all the ward councillors in his district, that K1 million was budgeted to purchase a new inceranator which will be used to burn/ destroy harmful hospital waste that has been greatly lacking for a very long time.

Vice Minister Kaeok also announced another K1 million funding to renovate and expand the existing morgue facilities which have severely deteriorated over the past years with little or no government attention given overtime.

Kaeok is optimistic of receiving more assistance for the district hospital from the National Department of Health as he had already held positive talks with his colleague MP and Health Minister Hon.Dr Lino Tom.
He assured the people that health is one of the Wapenamanda District Development Authority’s (WDDA) priority areas as the WDDA will renovate, expand and construct new health facilities throughout the district accordingly.

The Wapenamanda District Hospital also known as the Mambisanda Immanuel Lutheran Hospital is a Lutheran church run health facility established before Independence which has deteriorated and malfunctioned in areas of operations and administrations due to leadership tussle in the Gutnius Lutheran Church and related mismanagement issues.
