The Western Province will soon have its own state-of-the-art courthouse in Daru, thanks to the collaboration between the National Judiciary Services and the Western Provincial Administration. This project is set to be launched during the Opening of the Judicial Year in 2025, marking a historic milestone for the people of Western Province. The courthouse will house courtrooms, office spaces for Supreme and National Court judges, and a self-contained unit for visiting judges. This development will enhance the delivery of justice in the province and give Daru town a much-needed facelift.
The funding for this vital project comes from the Law and Justice Component of the Western Province PSIP (Provincial Services Improvement Program) for 2022 and 2023, along with the province’s internal revenue. The design and procurement process has been co-managed by the National Judiciary Services and the Western Provincial Administration to ensure quality and accountability. This collaboration reflects the commitment of both parties to improving the province’s judicial services.
We congratulate Hon. Taboi Awi Yoto, the Governor of Western Province, and his hardworking team for their leadership and vision in delivering this significant achievement. Such infrastructure is essential for bringing government services closer to the people and promoting law and order. It is a proud moment for the province, showcasing the provincial government’s dedication to improving lives.
We also acknowledge the support of the Marape-Rosso Government in facilitating this development. Their focus on strengthening law and justice systems across Papua New Guinea is evident through projects like this, which empower provinces to deliver better services. This collaboration between national and provincial governments demonstrates how teamwork can bring real change to communities.
This courthouse is more than just a building; it is a symbol of progress and justice for the people of Western Province. It represents the continuous efforts of leaders to uplift the province and improve access to essential services. Congratulations once again to Hon. Taboi Awi Yoto and all those involved in making this dream a reality.
