WHO could have image a common slang being used to help students in school. Such was true for the Asia Pacific Institute of Applied Social Economic and Technical Studies (APIASETS).
Common expression or slang that is used in communities are: ‘Wailo Pangra wa, or ‘how bai you les lo nice,’ but one that stood out was, ‘Why bai nogat’.
Among other slang that is commonly used in PNG for fun ‘Why Bai Nogat’ was fortunate enough to be considered a slogan for a system of APIASETS.
The students who have been left out of the formal educational system due to space are now given second chance to find their way through ‘Why Bai Nogat System’.
During the graduation ceremony held recently in Port Moresby, Executive Director Mr Thomas Pillar told the students that ‘Why Bai Nogat’ is their system.
“The government have their system, the churches have their system and this is your Why Bai Nogat System,” Mr Pillar said.
He told the students that the institution will never rest until it helps the students to see the light at the other side of the tunnel.
He told the students that they were privileged to have Why Bai Nogat Scholarship at the intuition.
Mr Pillar said the students could now study at the University of Goroka, Philippines and Australia through the scholarship.
He said the institution through Why Bai Nogat System has produced many successful people, including an airline pilot, an engineer, nurses and accountants.
The students were urged to utilise the system effectively and work towards achieving their goals like those previous students have done.
