IN a significant development for education in West New Britain Province, the review of secondary school teachers’ postings for the year 2025 was presented at Poinini Agro Technical Secondary School.
The event, held on Friday, brought together educators, administrators and the technical officers from education to discuss and assess the current placements of teachers in the region.
Provincial Executive Manager for Education, Mr. Vincent Kalatia emphasized the importance of the review presentation, stating: “The presentation of the review of the postings of secondary school teachers is not only convenient but also vital for the education system in our community and in the province as a whole.”
“It is crucial for teachers to perform to the standard expected of them in order to provide quality education to our students,” Mr. Kalatia said.
The review highlighted the strengths and challenges of the current teacher placement system, with a focus on ensuring that every school has qualified and dedicated educators.
Key points of discussion included the need for ongoing professional development, equitable distribution of teachers across schools, and strategies for supporting teachers in remote and disadvantaged areas.
The review process was monitored by inspection through supervision management by the school inspectors.
Secondary school inspector, Mr. Martin Kamo said: “We did school visits and there are about two major issues that we normally pay to our schools basically assessment made on a school and also assessment made on teachers’ performances which all of them are considered.”
Participants praised the efforts of the Department of Education in conducting a thorough and transparent review process, which involved input from schools, parents, and education stakeholders.
The presentation of the findings at Poinini Agro Technical Secondary School provided an opportunity for open dialogue and collaboration on how to improve teacher placements in the province.
Overall, the review of secondary school teachers’ postings in West New Britain Province for 2025 was seen as a positive step towards ensuring quality education for all students.
As the province moves forward, stakeholders are committed to working together to address any issues identified and to continue striving for excellence in education.
