Following the historic decision of a PNG NRL team entering the competition in 2028, the focus of the game is to build a strong pathway for Papua New Guinean players and that this can only happen through creating and developing stronger domestic competitions.
The development of participating clubs is critical to the success of the game nationally.
The PNGRFL understands that better clubs mean greater opportunities for every player to reach their dreams.
The conference expected to cover education, training and accreditation for club Strength and Conditioners, Medical staff, Coaches, Franchise Mangers and Club Chairman.
In a statement, General Manager of the Pathways and Performance, Mr Tony Archer said they are very excited to host the conference.
“After a successful 2024 season, we know that if we continue to raise the standards of our clubs it will lead to a better environment for our players to improve,” said Archer.
“This is the investment of our great sponsors, Digicel, ExxonMobil, Kumul Mineral Holdings Limited, MVIL and PacificAus Sports,” he added.
“We are proud to be partnering with the Australian Government through PacificAus Sports in building capacity and allowing us to put on educational conferences like this to upskill all of us through the connection to rugby league.”
“It is important at this time of the season that our clubs come together and get to share their knowledge,” he added.
“We can only build our game together through supporting and improving our Digicel ExxonMobil Clubs.
“We are really excited for the 2025 season, and this is such an important stage in our club’s preseason preparation.”
The 2025 Digicel Exxonmobil Cup Football Conference ends on Sunday 9 February 2025.
