Aiton to assist Kumuls coaching staff

By GABRIEL KATUHO

HUNTERS Head Coach Paul Aiton is expected to join the Kumuls coaching staff, in preparation for the upcoming Pacific Test and PM XIII in November this year.

Speaking to the media in a press conference today, Aiton said he is expecting a meeting with Kumuls staff first.

“I’m going to have a meeting shortly and I’ll see,” he said.

“I will be available if they need my assistance.”

“I think the competition as it is now, basically you have to win both games, Fiji and Cook Islands, to progress, and I am happy to help.

“I am happy to help because it is very important for us to win both games so that we can make the finals and get up to the cup competition with Australia, New Zealand and Tonga,” Aiton said.

He also stated that if one of the Hunters’ players is selected into the Kumuls, then it will be a bonus for the team and the players.

“I think the boys deserve it. I think we made it to the finals playing some good footy and during our preliminary finals, Jason Demetriou was there so I would not be surprised to see some of our boys in the squad,” Aiton said.
