Auckland FC arrived today in Port Moresby ahead of the OFC Pro League circuit two which kicks off this Saturday (Jan31) in Port Moresby.

Being the first team to arrive, the team met with the media at the Jackson’s International terminal.

Auckland FC defender Michalel Den Heijer highlighted the team’s preparedness for the second circuit of the OFC Pro League in Port Moresb, Papua New Guinea.

“I haven’t been here so I’m very excited, a lot of boys have not been to Papua New Guinea as well so they are also very excited. We know it’s going to be very tough, the matches are not going to be easy for us but we are up for the challenge. I think it’s going to be a big crown as well,” he said.

Den Heijer said Auckland FC had a young team with very talented players and would not take their opponents lightly.

“You see the three games that we played, we have a lot of difficult moments towards those games so we are not taking everything for granted and looking forward for this circuit in Papua New Guinea,” he said.

“I have been to many island countries, Papua New Guinea is the country I haven’t been to and I am excited to see the professional football that I know Papua New Guinea has. Hekari have a big following so I think there is going to be a big crown in Saturday and I am excited to see everybody there. It should be a good game,” he added.

Den Heijer expressed gratitude towards the fans and families back home who will support them online while they compete in the second circuit of the OFC Pro Leagues in Port Moresby, PNG.

“We know our people at Auckland will be supporting us online and watching us live so we are looking to give some of the best results for them,” he stated.
