THE Basketball Federation of PNG (BFPNG) has announced the extension of its annual affiliations.
In 2024, BFPNG experienced a remarkable growth with 34 new affiliates joining the federation, showcasing an expanding interest nationwide.
This year (2025), with the original deadline set for 31st March 2025, BFPNG has successfully registered 21 associations, each actively engaging in competitions nationwide.

Acknowledging the substantial need for an extension arising from financial and administrative challenges, the Federation reaffirms its dedication to fostering inclusivity.
BFPNG President, Mr. David Peter stressed the significance of widespread involvement and highlighted the upcoming four regional championships planned for the 2025 season.
He said in light of the considerable demand for an extension, the BFPNG Executives have made a decision to prolong the affiliation deadline by an additional two weeks.
“Therefore, the new deadline is scheduled for Monday, 15th April 2025. We urge all member affiliates to finalize their registration before the revised cutoff date,” said Peter.
The basketball federation, is committed to being transparent and accountable in all it’s deliverable and in creating a safer and more inclusive space for all to participate meaningfully.
