BSP backs PNG Golf Open tournament

BANK South Pacific (BSP) has announced its support for the 2025 PNG Golf Open tournament and the Junior Pro-Am, reaffirming its commitment as a gold sponsor with a contribution of K75,000.

Speaking at the sponsorship announcement, BSP Corporate Banking senior relationship manager, Alasdair Hinchliff, expressed the bank’s enthusiasm to once again partner PNG Golf Association to support one of Papua New Guinea’s most prestigious sporting events.

“Since 2011, BSP has stood alongside the PNG Golf Association, supporting this prestigious event, and we’re thrilled to be back again this year,” Hinchcliff said.

“As gold sponsors, we’re not just backing a tournament, we’re investing in a vibrant network of businesses, organizations, and individuals who come together through sport to build lasting relationships and shared success.”

The PNG Golf Open has long been a platform for showcasing elite talent and fostering community engagement.

BSP’s sponsorship reflects its broader commitment to the development of sport in PNG, particularly through its support of junior golfers.

PNG Golf Association president, Ian Hodge, expressed his appreciation for BSP’s continuous support, noting that the association is always grateful for the lasting partnership that continues to elevate the PNG Golf Open year after year.

“Through the BSP program we are really starting to capture some formidable talent which we believe will rise to become exceptional golfers in the future. Our aim is to present at major PGA events world- wide,” Hodges said.

The 2025 PNG Open was teed off at the Royal Port Moresby Golf Club on the 14th of August and will run to 17th, marking the launch of the 2025/2026 Challenger PGA Tour of Australasia.
