Fijian duo to boost Hekari’s line up

By GABRIEL KUTUHO

HEKARI United FC have added international flavour to its line up as the club prepares for the second half of the Women Conference Soccer League (WCSL) this weekend.

They have signed Fiji’s Player of the Year Adi Litia Bakaniceva and Maria Veronika from Rewa FC who are the current members of Fiji Kula (Women Soccer Team).

Coach Eric Komeng was excited about the inclusion stating that the Fijians will add experience and depth to the team which have a handful of representative players from PNG women’s soccer team.

He said their presence have boosted and taken team training to the next level.

Former players like Gloria Laeli have made a comeback at training while Shalome Waide return to the team training after four years of absence.

Komeng said they are looking forward to their match against KSS POM Souths when they play them in the opening match on Saturday.

Souths are the team of unknown quantity and with the recruitment of now disbanded Amoana FC players, they are gradually picking up the momentum under the watchful eyes of no-nonsense coach Mathew Witu.

In the second game, Tarangau FC from Bomana will host Bernice FC while Allies FC face a strong side in PRK Mungkas in the main game of WCSL.

The round 6 of the Women Conference Soccer League will be staged on the 11th of January, 2025.

It will be played at the PNG Football Stadium.

Below is the draw: 10:00am Hekari vs POM Souths; 1300pm Tarangau vs Bernice, and 1600 Allies FC vs PRK Mungkas
