Gulf Komara edges out Lae City 2-1

By GABRIEL KATUHO

Gulf Komara Football Club defeated Lae City Football Club 2-1 in an exciting contest at the National Football Stadium on Saturday.

Gulf Komara found themselves under pressure in the first half, trapped in their own territory as Lae City dominated the first 20 minutes.

However, Komara capitalized on their opportunities, with flanker Yamo Manu scoring within the box, giving them their first point of the match.

After the goal, Komara’s midfield regrouped and began pushing the ball into Lae City’s half, maintaining pressure on their opponents. Despite Lae City’s strong challenge, they struggled with ball control, allowing Komara to dominate much of the first half.

In the second half, Lae City came back with renewed determination, tightening their defense and sending the ball into Komara’s territory. However, in a tight contest, Komara managed to score again, this time through Number 24, Morris Wincent.

Lae City kept up the pressure, consistently placing the ball near Komara’s goal with several attempts. Their efforts paid off when striker Gordon Mark made an impressive play, dribbling past Komara’s backline and scoring to narrow the gap.

Despite Lae City’s strong finish, the match ended in a narrow 2-1 defeat, marking a close contest in round seven of the Premier Soccer League in the Nation’s Capital.
