Hekari determined to bounce back

By CHARLIE DUMAVI

Hekari United FC went down to a high spirited AS Academy Feminine 2-1 yesterday but is determined to bounce back in their next game against Kiwi FC on Saturday.

Coinciding a goal in just under two minutes into their match against ASAF of New Caledonia who added another goal in the dying seconds of eight minutes injury time to seal off the match Hekari is yet to back off said the coach.

HUFC head coach Erikson Komeng said it is not the result they wanted but they will return stronger.

”Unfortunately we did not get the result we want today (yesterday) but that is part of the game,” Komeng said.

“That’s football one team has to win and one has to lose. We didn’t get the result but I am proud of the girls, we will come back stronger in the next game.”

HUUFC were trailing 1-0 into the half time and returned with an equalizer by Marie Kaipu from a direct penalty after Gloria Laeli was fouled inside the box.

However HUFC went to sleep before the sounding of the fulltime whistle that pave for a goal by Ashley Xadrudrue Gowet that turned the possible draw on the score sheet to an upset at home for Hekari.

Tireless PNG national striker and Hekari’s strike power Ramona Padio also apologise for the home fans and promise to do more in their next game for the team, family, fans and the country as a whole.

“Thank for all the family and friends. We play for Hekari and PNG. We will play as a team in defending, ball possession and work together is one thing that will improve our game,” Padio said.
