The SP PNG Hunters will play their final home game against Souths Logan Magpies at the Santos National Football Stadium on Sunday.
Coach Paul Aiton says there is a chance for a home final if they win their remaining games.
Speaking after the training session yesterday, Aiton highlighted the areas his team was working on in preparation for the game.
“There are few things that we need to attend to so, I think we managed that this morning and we had a really good session,” he said.
Recapping on the weekend’s game, Aiton said the loss of points from try conversions could have been costly.
“We did not play how we really wanted to play but luckily we were able to win and get the two points. We have worked on the conversions and it feels good to go,” he said.
Both Magpies and Hunters have three games remaining before the finals and will be looking to improve their current positions on the Hostplus Cup ladder. Hunters are on 8th spot while Magpies are in 10th place.
“Magpies are a good team and they play an exciting footy so we are looking forward for some exciting footy,” Aiton said.
The coach acknowledged Hunters fans who turned up last weekend and appealed for a similar or better turnout on Sunday.
“It is also the old boy’s day where all the old Hunters from day one will come in and watch the game. It’s an interesting round where fans will be able to see some of the 2017 Hostplus Cup winners and those that started Hunters,” he said.
Aiton will keep the same team with Kaiyah Waiembi as 18th man after returning from an injury he sustained from a training last week.
