THE PNG SP Hunters are set for the second trial with the Northern Pride this Friday at Barlow Part in Cairns.
Hunters have completed their first internal trial with Central Dabaris on February 7th at the National Football Stadium and will see them flying down to Cairns to face the Northern Pride for the second trial match.
Assistant Coach Enock Maki said they have learnt few errors from the match with the Dabaris and have worked on fixing those errors during the training season.
“We have identified somethings that we need to fix for the next trial. We have worked hard throughout the week fixing those errors and are looking forward to go down for our second trial with the with Northern Pride,” Maki said.
Maki explained that they will have to work on solidifying their defense, slowing down on attack and keep as they were rushing it.
Maki said he and Coach Aiton have assembled 19 players to take on Northern Pride in Cairns this Friday with the inclusion of most of the new players.
He said the most experienced forward will be Jordan Patt among the new boys who have trained really hard to be in the team.
“We have some of the big forwards comprised of the young boys so we are looking forward to take them to Cairns and see how they play,” he said.
“Some of the new boys are Murray Connors and Limbi Henry in the seconds, Himson Ulalom has been good so far so we rewarded him with the starting from the front.”
“Also we have Steven Bruno as well so we are looking forward for the game,” he said.
Jamie Mavoko will lead the team down to Cairns and will pair up with Finley Glare for the spine.
The back five are, Elijah Roltinga, Benji Kot, Glent Lama, Solo waine and Morea Morea for the full back.
“After Northern Pride we will have the Central Queensland Capras here for the second trials and then we prepare for round one,” Maki said.
