THE Limitless Fight Promotion is Hosting a Kickboxing development tournament this Sunday at Koki, to promote the code and breed upcoming fighters in PNG.
The development tournament is aimed at helping the local community within the National Capital District find opportunity in Combat sports.
This was made known by Fedilis Pilai, the director and coordinator of limitless fight promotion in Papua New Guinea during an interview with Sunday Bulletin yesterday.
“My tournament will be hosted at Koki on Sunday the 29th this month for a live kickboxing event. We have different categories to put our fighters in; Child, young cadets, old cadets, junior division, Adults and semi-pro. both man and woman,” he said.
“So far over 10 clubs have already registered and we are awaiting fighter’s fees to come in. Final confirmation will be made on Friday with medical checkups and scaling of weight to be done at the Sir John Guise Stadium,” Mr. Pilai Said.
Pilai is doing what he could to promote the code in the country with whatever resources he had while seeking to stretch his arms out for support in terms of sponsors.
“I am looking forward to NCD coming on board, any business houses and possible sponsors who wish to come and assist, you are all welcome,” he said.
Mr. Pilai is looking at helping the youths in the community by promoting the code under the Youth Movement Improvement program.
“I will be travelling to various suburbs in the city to educate and train martial arts and help them find their potential in combat sports,” Pilai said.
“In this way we can introduce the code in the country, educate the mindset of the youths to get away from bad habits and also develop upcoming athletes for the country,” he added.
Pilai is appealing to the leaders in the community to come forward and work with him and his team as they teach, and train interested individuals in the community.
“I will have the instructors come into the community and teach the martial arts code. As the teaching is going on, I will host a tournament every month to let the fighters showcase what they learnt,” Pilai said.
Fidelis is looking at a bigger dream as he plans to reach out to Australian clubs and affiliate with them for the benefit of the code.
“The work is underway for me to affiliate with Queensland Combat sport and New South Wales combat sport to promote fighters in PNG, both the amateur and pro. And also, I will be developing fighters for the Kickboxing federation,” Pilai said.
