Nandex: International invitations must be approved by WKBF and PNGKBF

THE Founder and President of Papua New Guinea Kickboxing Federation (PNGKBF), Chief Stanley Nandex (pictured) says any international kickboxing invitation without the approval of the World Kickboxing Federation and PNGKBF is not “legitimate”.

“PNGKBF has made it clear that any international invitation through other agencies, including kickboxing clubs or association in the country without PNGKBF’s knowledge is unofficial,” said the president.

Mr. Nandex made this clarification in a statement today in response to a news article published by Post Courier on February 19 2025, regarding the invitation from Sri Lanka, India, for the international championships next month (March).

“Such invitation to one of our international representatives, Mr. Billy Kavavo, to attend this event is not recognized by both the World Kickboxing Federation (WKF) and PNG Kickboxing Federation (PNGKBF),” he clarified.

“I’m not aware of this event as it is not included in our 2025 event calendar. So, we can’t confuse our sponsors, members and athletes with a misleading information,” Nandex said.

He said PNGKBF is governed by its rules, guidelines and constitution as the only authorized body in the country and any invitations should come under PNGKBF’s attention.

“The new group that are claimed to be another kickboxing organization in the country (PNG) is misrepresented by Bostony Elo which their organization is only registered in Sydney, Australia, as a private registered business under Mr. Robert Wilsmith.

“Our official head office is in Vienna, Austria with members of 145 registered countries including PNG, which I am the current president of the PNGKBF and the general secretary to WKF Oceania,” said Nandex.

The PNGKBF president said he has written to all media through their sports desk early this year not to entertain any information on kickboxing accept through their office.

“There are lot of social media platforms and anyone can just put up all kinds of information to gain support,” Nandex added.

The President said he has experienced this in the past, both within and abroad so he has put the restrictions on any kickboxing matters which should be controlled in a manner to avoid further disturbances with the flow of activities.

Mr. Nandex highlighted that the PNGKBF has four major international events for this year after missing out on the world championships last year (2024) due to visa issues.

He said this year the federation is already gearing up to send four of its senior fighters, Mark Sondo, Kondup Samson, Female fighter Adasha Sumi and Arunae Stanley to fight in Melbourne, Australia under LJP Fight Promotion, which is scheduled on 26th April 2025.

He added that other members will take part in the Kickboxing and Martial Arts Championships in Bangkok, Thailand, in May 2025, including July 26th World Title tournament in Port Moresby and the World Games in China in August 2025.

Nandex said because of these upcoming important events, they don’t want such misleading information to interfere in its progress.
