
Papua New Guinea Rugby Football League (PNGRFL) and PNG National Rugby League Competition (PNG NRLC) announced this week that Round 18 of the Digicel ExxonMobil (DEM) Cup will be dedicated to Kimbe Cutters player Ray Amos.
Amos sustained a serious neck injury in Round5, while scoring a try, four minutes into the first half.
Round 18 will be called “Round for Ray” and a bank account will be set up for donations to assist Amos pay his medical bills and related expenses as he recovers.
Amos is still at Port Moresby General Hospital (PMGH) and is currently receiving rehabilitation to assist in his recovery.
PNGRFL Chief Executive Officer Stanley Hondina and PNGRFL Performance and Pathway General Manager Tony Archer have visited Amos at PMGH and have advised him and the family on the decision to dedicate the last normal round of the 2025 season to him.
“PNGRFL and PNG NRLC have been supporting Mr Amos and his family as he recovers at Port Moresby General Hospital. His condition has improved and we would like to acknowledge the hard-working doctors and nurses at Port Moresby General Hospital for their expertise.”
“Round for Ray will be across all Digicel ExxonMobil venues in Minj, Rabaul, Lae, Goroka and Port Moresby with opportunities for donations at these venues. We also have a Bank account set up for donations and we would like to thank SP PNG Hunter for their support to the cause,” Hondina said.
