GOODMAN Fielders (GF) have come forward with over K50, 000 worth of sponsorship to continue their support to Central Dabaris Rugby League (CDRL) team as the naming rights sponsors of the club’s junior pathway competition.
CDRL Director Hubert Warupi said he is grateful to Goodman Fielders under their Skel Rice brand to come on board and support CDRL community initiative to develop a youths in the community.
“We are very happy and honored that Skel Rice will also be the naming rights sponsor for our junior rugby league program. We have age groups participating in the program from under 14 to 20, and this year we will go from under 12 to under 20.
That is important because we want to build a legacy for the franchise. We want to build our next champions that will carry the flag of central province and the team along with our sponsor’s Skel Rice.
We are building champions to give hope to our young boys. They can be able to one day wear the jersey and if they are good enough, they can be able to represent the country,” said Mr. Waruoi.
Goodman fielders is the naming rights sponsor of annual Dabaris 9s competition for this year similar to what they have been doing over the years since 2020.
Goodman will supply food ration and merchandise to Central Dabaris franchise through season 2023.
Chanting “Skel Rice, Skel life” the team is glad to welcome GF on board again for another year of not only rugby league but also on the journey to build future pathways for youths.
Skel Rice brand manager Nancy Daniel expressed that they are super excited to involve youth in the community not only to play rugby league but also pave ways to address unemployment and build positive life skills in the communities.
She said taking part in improving rugby league “PNG’s favorite” game is a privilege.
“Skel Rice itself is a very young brand, so, being a part of different codes in the country builds foundation for our youth. This sponsorship encourages focus of our youth development. It is a great initiative by Central Dabaris under their Skel Rice junior Dabaris League and I am supper proud to continuing this sponsorship,” said Ms. Daniel
Goodman Fielder’s Sponsorship Manager Xena Peni also extended that GF first commenced their funding to Dabaris in 2020 with an initial K20, 000 and the improvement of CDRL have increased the confidence for GF to extend their support.
“This year, we come on board with an increase sponsorship value of K50, 000. It will most likely exceed K50 000 as we will also be looking at kind sponsorship in terms of ration for the teams and merchandise throughout the season (year). This sponsorship by us (GF) is a testament of what the management of Central Dabaris franchise has been doing,” Said Peni.
With great support on board, the Central boys are looking forward to a great 2023 PNG national rugby league season.
