THE Papua New Guinea Basketball Federation have announced the final squad for the senior 3×3 mans and woman’s team who will be participating in the FIBA 3×3 2025 ASIA Cup in March this year.
The team PNG will make its second appearance since 2022 as they prepare for the competition to start next month.
PNG Basketball Federation (PNGBF) President David Peter was delighted to announce the final team for the FIBA 3×3 2025 ASIA Cup after the selection team finalized the list.
The selections team comprising of Coach Nick Gavin, and the assistant coaches, Gabriel Lavo, Michael Henry, Jordan, Janifer few other coaches went through the last selection of the players. The players also went through the high-performance test conducted by the high-performance team.
“The team is based on the selection we did up in Goroka in December last year. The other team went around to major centers around the country like in Kokopo, in Madang, Goroka, they covered at least the four regions of the country and identified the players,” Peter said.
“The players were then requested to go up to Goroka for the national championships and then from there we did the list. That list included the list for the 5×5 as well as the 3×3 both for the senior mans and women as well as the under 23,” he added.
He said because the under 23 is going to happen in June, and the 5×5 is going to happen in October, the PNGBF now have to really work towards putting our team together for the ASIA Cup which starts around 26th of March.
