The Rigo Rice Cup will host the Leg One Grand Final of its Season Two competition tomorrow, Sunday, 18 January 2026, marking another major milestone for the fast-growing grassroots rugby league tournament.

Following a successful inaugural season in 2025, which featured a K300,000 total cash prize pool, the competition has returned bigger and stronger this year with an increased K500,000 cash prize for Season Two.

The tournament is structured into four legs (pools), with teams competing across different rounds for a chance to qualify for the grand prize showdown later this year. While the second leg is currently into Round Two, attention now turns to the highly anticipated Leg One Grand Final.

Tournament organisers have confirmed that two teams from the Gerehu suburbs will contest the Leg One title, competing for a K10,000 cash prize.

Gerehu 3 Bulls will go head-to-head against G-Hood Vikings in the Leg One Grand Final, scheduled to be played at Bava Park in Port Moresby.

Organisers have also assured the public that security and safety arrangements have been put in place for spectators attending the finals. Police officers will be present, supported by casual security personnel and field marshals, to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for rugby league fans.

For tomorrow’s finals:
• Grand Final winner: K10,000
• Runner-up: K5,000
• Third place: K3,000

The top teams will also advance and prepare for the Season Two grand prize clash, which is scheduled to be held later this year at Hubert Murray Stadium.
