Local MP calls for resolution of public servant dispute in Mt Bosavi

IN a recent statement made at the presentation of a K500,000 cheque to purchase machinery for the construction of the Kutubu to Bosavi Road, the MP for Nipa-Kutubu Dr Billy Joseph, has called upon the Southern Highlands provincial government to take immediate action in resolving a dispute over public servant positions in Mt Bosavi.

The MP expressed concern over the confusion surrounding the legitimacy of the District Affairs Manager and LLG Manager positions in Mt Bosavi, with two officers, Alphose Seiyaka and Gunabo Alibe, engaged in a bitter dispute over who is the rightful signatory to the Mt Bosavi Accounts.

This ongoing conflict has resulted in the waste of hundreds of thousands of kina, which should have been spent to improve the lives and livelihoods of the people of Mt Bosavi.

The MP stressed the urgency of resolving the issue, so that public funds can be put to better use.

Dr Billy warned that he is aware of individuals who are benefiting from this conflict, and called for an end to the divisive tactics being employed.

“As the local MP; I asked that this be fixed now once and for all so monies for the People of Mt Bosavi are spent to improved lives and livelihoods for the people of Mt Bosavi,” he said.

He said the people of Mt Bosavi have been waiting for too long for their much-needed infrastructure and development projects to be implemented

He said it is high time for the Southern Highlands provincial government to take decisive action and resolve this public servant dispute once and for all.
