OCEANIA Fights Promotions (OFP) is laying down the canvas to host a boxing fight night with two Philippines professional fighters listed for the main bout to end the showdown.
OFP managing director and promoter Maryanne Millie said the fight will take place in Port Moresby on October 14.
The two international professional bouts will see Papua New Guinea’s Joe Kara face the visiting Filipino Peter Estiller in the 61kg lightweight division, followed by Kopi Mahuta making his first international appearance against another fighter from the Philippines who is yet to be confirmed.
Millie said the local boxers are all set and are hard at training with their respective clubs for the event.
“Port Moresby will be transformed into a battle ground for the noble art of professional boxing,” she said.
“This night promises to be an unforgettable experience showcasing the incredible talent and skills of local and international fighters. “We’ve finalised a line-up that will keep you at the edge of your seat.
“The fight night will feature two international bouts, putting our own warriors from PNG against competitors from the Philippines.”
Millie said there will be 11 local undercard bouts to set the atmosphere for main bout.
Two of the 11 local bouts will see female boxers putting their fighting skills to the test in front of the home audience.
Millie said every punch thrown by the boxers is a representation of their family and clubs and for the women, the fights can be an inspiration for interested individuals to join the code.
She acknowledged the National Gaming Control Board for being the major sponsor of the event.
“We extend our gratitude to NGCB for the continued commitment to promote sports excellancy in PNG,” Millie said.
“The support has enabled us to focus on our goal to be champions.”
Due to limited space at the venue, the tickets are going on pre-sale to corporate partners who wish to be part of the event.
