PRIME Minister James Marape has indicated to the country that the Pangu-led government, along with its coalition partners, will go on a retreat in Madang on October 7th.
He made this known at Government House before flying out to attend the United Nations General Assembly meeting yesterday.
“There’s a preview going on in the hall of Government. On the 7th of October, the coalition party leaders and the deputy party leaders from our coalition government will enter into a retreat,” the Prime Minister said.
He explained that the retreat is for the government to take stock of its progress from 2022 up to today, as well as to reflect on the core focus of the Pangu-led government.
“Especially our focus on advocating to take back a greater share of our resources and our focus on the economy. We have been occupied with the ever-increasing need to respond to the Law and Justice sector due to the lawlessness on the ground,” Prime Minister Marape said.
“We’ve picked Madang as the venue for our retreat, considering the Pacific Marine Industrial Zone discussions and the need to boost the rural economy.”
“If it means that the government needs to overhaul the engine that drives it, then those conversations will take place in October, November, and December as we prepare for the 2025 work year.”
