PNG Kickboxing Federation (PNGKBF) has successfully completed its two months intensive training program in preparations for the world championships this month from 18th-22nd November 2024, says PNGKBF president, Mr. Stanley Nandex.
He said the hard work for the last two months of the intensive training program under the PNGSF, High Performance Program and the PNG Kickboxing Federation has completed well today.
“I am very impressed today to witness the final fitness test for the fighters who have put in so much of their efforts during the training sessions, is a huge success,” said Nandex.
He said this whole process took two years of the preparation with, developments, selections, eliminations processes etc… to come to this final stage.
Mr Nandex said the assessment was done by Mr Kaupa Omena, who is also the senior fighter of the Federation who has been certified as a Sports Trainer with NSI to conduct the successful assessment in presence of Mr. Nandex, head coach Mr. John Kwiwa and other trainers.
“My advice to the fighters is simple, stay focused, believe in yourself, respect the hard work you have put in and have God in the centre of your heart so the rest is all history.
“Today when you are not recognized, you feel like you haven’t done much, but the moment you are recognized by the world, you will then realize how much you have put in to your preparations.”
Nandex said every great people in the sport come from different success story.
“The moment we raise our flag on the top of the world and listen to your national anthem and declare you as a winner or world champion, is a different feeling,” he said.
Nandex said without the support of the Minister for Sports, Higher Education, Science and Technology Hon. Kinoka Feo, they wouldn’t have come this far to prepare the national kickboxing team.
“We are also thankful to Mr. Micah James, CEO of the PNGSF and staff, the Board of Directors and Management of the Kumul Minerals Holdings Ltd for their support towards supporting the team with the tickets for 30-member for the world championships.
“The tickets are covered but, we are still waiting for other costs which we are certain to receive another positive response from the Minister for Sports,” said Nandex.
He said tomorrow (November 6) night is their corporate fundraising dinner at the Dynasty Restaurant at Vision City, and has invited several corporate companies and invited guests to attend.
Nandex said the table of ten will go for K5, 000.
He said the team is expected to depart on the 12th November via Manilla, Philippines, spend three nights there to get their Spain Viasas before they transit for Spain.
The final team will be announced during the Corporate Dinner night tomorrow.
