THIS year marks a significant milestone for the Papua New Guinea Adventist Tertiary Student Association (PNG ATSA) in the student ministry whilst on their academic studies in different institutions throughout the country.
As they prepare to host the main celebration in December at Oro Province, a pre anniversary celebration is organize to take place in Port Moresby on the 24th November, bringing together all the members and professionals past and present to commemorate the Pre 40-th Anniversary leading up to the actual event and the 20th Biennial convention.
President of the PNG ATSA, Mr Remedy Amevo whilst speaking of their planned pre anniversary celebration highlighted the great and positive impact of the Adventist student movement, which had influenced those that came through the ministry and molded them to becoming better people to their professional community and homes.
“PNG ATSA has been here since 1984 and this year marks the 40th year of its existence in various tertiary institutions across Papua New Guinea”, President Amevo revealed.
President Amevo said, the pre anniversary celebration is special as it features a reminiscing program for previous members and presidents as well as those who held various executive roles in the PNG Adventist student ministry to reflect in the journey so far whilst being a member to the Adventist student movement.
Part of the pre anniversary program, will be a fundraising drive that coincides to take place along to help support the convention that is to happen in Oro.
Mr. Amevo made open invitations to all professionals, students and other interested stakeholder to come forward and support the program as a token of their appreciation and contribution for projects that the PNG ATSA is embarking to roll during the 20TH Biennial convention.
“We would like to extend invitations to the former PNG ATSA members to who are now working in the different sectors whether it be government or non-government organisations to come to this special 40TH pre- anniversary,” Mr. Amevo stated.
