KAIRUKU district in Central province has commenced it’s selection trials at Bereina station in preparation for the Southern Region youth games slated in April next year.
Kairuku district sports coordinator Paul Aluofo says the four days trials selections is aimed at selecting best cream of players, fighters and athletes in each sporting codes to make up Team Kairuku to compete in the Southern region youth games next year.
He says the trials began with boxing, volleyball, darts, soccer, touch footy, netball, while athletics will be held on Friday.
He says he is pleased with the turn out today and the anticipation is high for participants competing in each code to impress the selectors on day one of the selection trials.
He adds selections will conclude with probables and possibles with possible final selection in each codes when the team goes into camp early next year.
He thanked local MP and Vice Minister for Works and Highways Peter Isoaimo for his generous support in having the selection trials get off the ground.
Isoaimo will officiate at the closing ceremony on Saturday
