GAZELLE DISTRICT UPDATE.

The Citrus Training Program is an exciting initiative aimed at equipping 80 youths from the New Guinea Islands (NGI) region with the necessary skills for employment in the agricultural sector, specifically with Agrilabour, an Australian labor hire company.

The Gazelle Labour Mobility Unit has a database and a stringent criteria based program that enhances and prepares our Labour team to be ready for deployment.

Program Overview:

  • Duration 14 days
  • Participants 80 youths from various regions of NGI
  • Location
    Accommodation
    Kerevat National High School dormitory
  • Training Venue UNRE Vudal Campus
  • Training Components
  • Daily morning fitness sessions
  • Practical training in fruit picking using ladders and other equipment on citrus farms
  • They are supported and sponsored by PNG LMU and the Gazelle Labour Mobility Unit on the ground
  • There are Three representatives from Agrilabour that arrived in East New Britain and were welcomed by
  • Gazelle Labour Mobility Unit Coordinator Miss Ellen Morgan, ENB Provincial Administrator Mr Levi Mano,
  • Gazelle MP and Minister of Fisheries and Marine Resources, Hon Jelta Wong as well as Representatives from the ENB Governor’s Office

The Candidates that participated are as follows

  • Manus: 14 candidates
  • AROB: 14 candidates
  • Gazelle: 13 candidates
  • Namatanai: 13 candidates
  • Kavieng: 13 candidates
  • WNB: 13 candidates

This program not only aims to provide skills for employment but also fosters community development and enhances collaboration between local and international entities in the agricultural sector.
