Port Moresby 1st of July 2025: Papua New Guinea National Rugby League Commission (PNRLC) held a mid-season conference with all 12 Franchise managers of the Digicel ExxonMobil Cup 2025 season. The mid-season conference had sessions on Injury Tracking and management, judiciary reports, commercial opportunities, media engagements and forward planning.

General Manager of Performance and Pathway, Tony Archer, said that the mid-season conference and bye weekend (21ST -22ND June) allowed the franchises to recover physically, mentally and internally assess performance. The mid-season break also allows PNRLC to assess delivery of the game.

“Like all seasons with competitions you need a bye-weekend for the franchises to internally assess performance and their players to recuperate and prepare for second half of the season in chase for the top 6 spot. So far, the competition has seen improvements from 2024 with the introduction of a new judicial review system and on field medical attentions.”

“We also had our Digicel ExxonMobil Cup and National Youth Competition officiating group attend for a mid-season development and educational session that was facilitated by Queensland Rugby League officiating Coach. For PNRLC and PNGRFL our aim is to continue our delivery of the competition, while also working with our franchises to identify and address areas of improvement and vice versa. “

The Digicel ExxonMobil Cup is mid-season into the 2025 season with 11 rounds completed and another 11 rounds remaining. Round 12 of the competition is this weekend with a Double header in Port Moresby.
