National Capital District Governor Powes Parkop has expressed grave concerns about serious health issues facing the nation’s capital city.

Mr Parkop said: “We have serious issues with Tuberculosis (TB) and we are going to have TB Summit and, we have K5 million to support the conference and dedicated TB facilities.

“HIV/AIDS are on the rise in the city and people with HIV are migrating to the city because they find refuge here because of high discrimination, so people fine it anonymous among the big population in the city.

“We have given about K10 million to support Gerehu hospital to extend its services and we also starting to putting in place a plan for level 4 hospital in 9mile.

“Our priority now is to upgrade all the clinics in the city, we have definite plan for that and because we have a grant with the bank in China and once, we get the loan approved for the level 5 hospital, it comes with a grant of about K100 million.

“And this can be catered for all the clinics in the city, Lawes Road Clinic, Badili, koki, at Kaugere, 6mile and Gordons’s clinic is a shamble and shame and Morata 3, Seventh day Adventist (SDA’s) church are looking after Tokorara.

“I want services to be improved but I have to follow up a plan, I can build a clinic or hospital but its not just a matter of building a hospital,” Governor Parkop said.
