THE Climate Change and Development Authority (CCDA) has officially launched a new website and a Communication, Knowledge Management, and Visibility Strategy to improve climate action and information sharing in Papua New Guinea.

The launch event took place today at the CCDA Office in Port Moresby and was attended by key stakeholders and partners.

CCDA Acting Managing Director Debra Sungi led the launch and was accompanied by the European Union’s Head of Cooperation Hans Lambrecht, Expertise France Country Director  Emilie Mignot and Alaric Vandenberghe, who is the project manager for the national component of the EU-Funded Forestry-Climate Change-Biodiversity (EU-FCCB) Program.

Ms Sungi said the new tools show CCDA’s commitment to making climate information open and easy for everyone to access.

“These platforms reflect our belief that the people of Papua New Guinea deserve access to timely, accurate, and relevant climate information,” she said. “Transparency builds trust. And trust builds action.”

The new website is designed to be easy to use. It shares updates on climate policies, project progress, and research. It also includes community stories and allows the public to take part in climate discussions. The goal is to make climate knowledge available to everyone, including decision-makers, researchers, partners, and everyday citizens.

The CKMAV Strategy will help CCDA improve the way it shares information both inside and outside the organization. It focuses on making CCDA’s work more visible to the public, helping different government agencies and development partners work together, and using better information to guide planning and decision-making.

This strategy supports the goals of Papua New Guinea’s Vision 2050, the country’s Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), and international climate agreements such as the Paris Agreement.

The EU-FCCB Programme, through Expertise France, helped CCDA develop the new website and strategy.

Ms Mignot said the launch was an important step for the country. “This launch marks a significant achievement in ensuring climate knowledge is accessible and actionable,” she said.

“By strengthening communication, knowledge, and visibility, CCDA equips PNG to lead inclusive and informed climate action.”

CCDA is encouraging all citizens and partners to visit the new website and support efforts to share climate knowledge across the country.
