CHUAVE MP James Nomane has queried Treasurer Ian Ling-Stuckey on measures he is taking to generate more revenue for PNG.
“The Treasurer has publicly promoted the Marape Government’s fiscal consolidation strategy, Mr Nomane said during Question Time in Parliament today.
“If the good Treasure could also announce what approaches he is taking to generate revenue and if he’s got any big announcements for continuous borrowing after borrowing?
Minister Ling-Stucky responded: “I’ve been asked that particular question, what plans the Government have to increase the revenue.
“We did launch on behalf of the Marape-Rosso Government a five-year medium-term plan for revenue strategy back in 2023.
“Since 2019, we have increased government revenue by 101% by doubling the revenue, that’s from K11.9 billion in 2019 to a projected K23.9 billion this year.
“That’s the plan so stay with us, work with us, support us and together let’s keep increasing revenue and increasing our budget,” Mr Ling-Stuckey said.
