The Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary has been working hard to upgrade its existing infrastructure with the aim of maximizing its spending on contractors in the future.
This was the message delivered by the Deputy Commissioner of Police Administration, Dr Philip Mitna, during the opening of the Material Printing Unit Office at Bomana Police College this morning.

DCP Mitna, who was pleased with the work done by the contractor and the RPNGC management, said the Police Department had been spending a lot of money on buying printing materials and also on printing services for policing materials.
He added that with the new building and the new machines that are now in place, the department would save more and concentrate on spending money on other police operations.
He mentioned that in the past, they had been paying printing companies to help print their materials, which was very costly.
Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police Logistics, Chris Smith, said the contractor who was hired to build the MPU and the college supermarket took only three months to complete the MPU building. He added that representatives from the contractor, Far East Handyman, were present this morning to officially hand over the keys to the RPNGC after completing the building.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Training, Silva Sika, thanked the RPNGC management for the initiative taken to renovate the building and move the MPU office there.
He said the building would not only serve the RPNG but would assist the Police College to print their teaching materials.
The contractor is now working on completing the college supermarket.
